3 Game Pass Games That Will Validate Your Subscription During the Weekend (Nov. 21-23)

Following the recent cost hike for Game Pass Ultimate, the earlier commotion has calmed down. While it may not be considered the top offer in gaming now, the service has introduced several high-profile launch day releases lately, including Ninja Gaiden 4 and The Outer Worlds 2. These titles further enrich a massive library of numerous games ideal for weekend-long marathon sessions.

Our current recommendations include a cathartic action game, an award-winning indie masterpiece, and a must-play HD-2D RPG.

Sniper Elite: Resistance

Every so often, we all require a little release. Over two decades, the Sniper Elite series has provided exactly that. Rebellion Developments' enduring shooter series presents players intensely graphic mayhem targeting Nazi targets. Recently, Rebellion released Sniper Elite: Resistance, a well-timed new entry to the series. While it doesn't reinvent the gameplay, Resistance remains a well-constructed dose of immersive sim World War II open environments packed with enemy targets. The sniping is as brutal and satisfying as ever, featuring the game's trademark killcam displaying every bullet's effect in gory, testicle-crunching detail. It's a violent excitement for every pacifist looking to unwind in the safety of a digital space.

1000xResist

1000xResist presents an award-winning narrative touching on life after a pandemic existence, family pain, and other deep themes. It approaches these subjects through a science fiction lens; you assume the role of Watcher, one of multiple clones of Iris, the sole person left of a global outbreak that wiped out human life. Watcher and her fellow clones delve into Iris's memories from the time Earth was beset by that horrific plague, along with experiences of her school and home life, neither of which were bearable for a young person. Watcher learns Iris is not all that she seems, and the story unfolds from that point. Should all that mystery fails to hook you, the game does begin with a murder. What could be a more gripping start than this?

Octopath Traveler II

Yes, finishing a gazillion-hour RPG in only nine days is a tall order, but if any game worth trying the effort for, it's Octopath Traveler 2. Square Enix's visually striking gem is leaving Game Pass at the close of the month (as is the first game, which is also included). However, due to a break in the midst, at least for players in the U.S., it's technically doable. Octopath Traveler 2 follows 8 characters, every one representing a different genre. There's a investigative tale about a priest looking into the death of his cathedral's head priest. A trader aiming to solve poverty through the power of commerce headlines a western-themed adventure. Additionally, there's a mystery about an herbalist with memory loss (because all great RPGs need a hero with an mysterious past, of course). A few of these stories intertwine in unexpected, intriguing ways, while you progress through a stunning 19th-century themed setting. And the combat is superb — stat-focused gameplay distilled to its purest form.
