Canada's Blue Jays Earn World Series Meeting Versus Los Angeles Dodgers
Springer contributed to the Houston Astros winning the championship in 2017.
The Toronto Blue Jays reached their initial Fall Classic since 1993 by beating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the AL Championship Series.
Behind by two runs, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run homer in the seventh inning, guiding the Toronto squad in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 victory in the series. Awaiting them are the defending champions, holders of the reigning title, in the anticipated championship.
"It's incredible for everyone here, our city, our country," Springer stated, an integral part of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 title. "What an incredible feeling."
Springer has now connected for 23 October home runs, placing him third in history after Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).
"There's probably not another player on planet Earth that I'd prefer in that moment other than him with his October magic," said manager John Schneider.
Seattle, after leading the early in the series, are still the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a championship series.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson said "without a doubt that it hurts" after his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but praised their performance throughout the year.
"It's a special team. It's a shame that we finished on the losing end of the series," he added.
Toronto claimed the World Series on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Dodgers in the opener on Friday.
