NFL 2025 season: Week six
Live coverage includes live text of the weekend matchups on multiple platforms, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, audio coverage is available on select stations for a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).
We're in the sixth week in the football calendar , after last week's discussion regarding two top teams being possible championship contenders, each surrendered their perfect starts.
Striking during those contests were the amount of infractions both committed. Philadelphia committed them at crucial times meaning they essentially defeated themselves after leading 17-3 going into the fourth period versus the Denver Broncos, who play overseas this weekend.
But it proved positive to observe that Denver quarterback the rookie managed to have that deficit and then lead three scoring drives on three possessions in the fourth quarter, securing the game 21-17.
Denver boast the defensive player of the year in CB Pat Surtain II. They rank number one in red zone defence, while the Eagles are number one in red zone offence, yet the Broncos prevailed in that battle.
They had effective strategies regarding simulated pressure. They weren't necessarily rushing more than four defenders instead they could position two LBs in the 'A' gap then withdrawing them and send a slot defender from the outside.
Early on of the season, we said on a program that the Broncos could be this season's dark horses. They ended the previous year strongly and did a good job in continuing that momentum.
Are the Denver Broncos this season's underdog story?
New TE their tight end has excelled big and recent running back JK Dobbins is a player they believe in. He now ranks 5th in the NFL for rushing yards (402) as well as tied-fourth in rushing scores (4).
It's impressive that the coach Sean Payton has "RUSH!" at the top of his playcall sheet.
This demonstrates that the Broncos represent a squad aiming to prioritize the run, because you can achieve much off the back of that. It slows opposing rushes and keeps you in favourable situations.
It's also helped quarterback Bo Nix, who came into the league as the 12th overall draft pick last year, passing for 29 TDs – second only to Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 back in 2020).
Other elite QBs have the arm strength to pass anywhere, however they lack in the same way that Nix has. He has incredible arm talent, which is different, and he's so athletic.
His assets include his movement, being able to throw while moving, and using different arm angles to deliver the pass when he rolls out of the pocket, on rollouts. He can throw that layered pass over the middle and past defenders.
For a young quarterback, aged 25, he displays great composure in the pocket and is not really fazed by extra rushers. He tries to avoid being tackled as much as possible and is able throw in tight spots. He has sharp intelligence and is quick to decide.
When you constantly run the ball it eats up time and makes the opponent to be on the field extended periods, and when you've got a mobile QB the defence has to defend the field downfield side to side. It can be exhausting.
The quarterback has pushed back at Payton on the sideline sometimes and I think the coach appreciates that fire, that he's such a competitor. I think it's fun for him to coach a young quarterback who's similar to play-dough. The coach can truly develop him the way he wants to build it. I think it's a unique opportunity for him.
Payton has won a championship and now surpassed a legend in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He's seen it all. I think the achievements Denver are experiencing offensively is mostly due to his guidance, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the pairing with Nix aids make him into who he is.
You wouldn't want a better guy in your ear, to assist you through difficult moments and boost self-belief.
I believe in the Broncos' defense, in the QB's grit and calm. But are they strong enough to face a top squad at its best? Because that was not a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles last Sunday.
Right now, it's unlikely Denver are incredible. They're working better than most, which is a good place to be in their division. The key is to continue this path.
They're really good at embracing their forte, which is the ground game, and this is exactly what they should do versus the Jets in London. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.
New York have surrendered 140 rushing yards each contest (sixth worst), five ground scores so far (in the bottom ten), and they're the only team without a win any game.
Ever since the league started recording takeaways decades ago, this team are the inaugural squad to go without any turnovers in five outings, which is kind of shocking considering that the head coach was previously a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.
The Chiefs' QB says the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' following a recent loss to Jacksonville.
After this Sunday's game, Denver have a manageable slate until their bye (in week 12) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Chiefs.
Looking at their division, Kansas City are 2-3 while Denver are even with the Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could challenge at leading the West.
It depends on what version of the Chiefs they face since Denver {beat|def
