Information Available Concerning the Those Lost of the Bondi Beach Terror Attack
No fewer than 16 lives lost their lives and more than 40 were hurt when assailants shot at a Hanukkah event at Bondi Beach, a tragedy local authorities are describing as a terrorist attack.
In the latest update, authorities have confirmed the death toll stands at 16, encompassing one of the alleged gunmen. Furthermore, 42 injured people were taken to medical facilities.
Those who died are yet to be publicly named, but investigators think their ages are from 10 and 87 years of age.

Eli Schlanger
Originally from London clergyman Eli Schlanger, 41, was the first victim to be named.
Reportedly a father-of-five, he served as the associate rabbi at a local Jewish cultural centre. Relatives and friends remembered him as ālively, dynamic, and vibrant and a very kind and sociable person who loved to help peopleā.
āHow is it possible that a happy rabbi who went to a beach to spread happiness and light, to make the world a better place, meet his end in this way?ā a family member remarked.
Schlanger and his wife had recently celebrated the birth of their youngest child in October.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman also lost his life, as stated by his wife.
She recounted the events leading up to the shooting, stating they had been standing together when the shooting started. āHe moved to protect me because he wanted to stay near me,ā she said.
The couple were both survivors of the Holocaust, having endured immense hardship in their youth. They had later moved to Australia from Eastern Europe.
Dan Elkayam
French authorities have announced that French man Dan Elkayam is a casualty.
Publicly, the Foreign Minister declared that France shared the grief of his family and loved ones, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
āThis low act is a new, tragic manifestation of a disgusting rise of hatred against Jews that we must put a stop to,ā the message read.
One Child
A young girl, aged 10 who was rushed to the Sydney Childrenās Hospital has been confirmed among the fatalities, according to police reports.
One Israeli Citizen
One victim from Israel was among those killed during the attack, as per reports referencing the Israeli government.
Those Injured
Of the 42 people taken to hospitals, a significant number are still under care, with a number in critical condition. The injured include two officers who responded to the attack.
A casualty is a bystander who rushed to the scene to tackle one of the gunmen. Called a hero, he received gunshot wounds but is in stable condition in hospital.
Arsen Ostrovsky
One of those wounded is Arsen Ostrovsky, a human rights lawyer. Reports indicate he was wounded and is receiving treatment in hospital.
In a message, he described the incident as an āhorrific scene,ā but also praised the response of those who came to assist. He said he felt it was a āstroke of luckā he was alive.
Evan Zlatkis
Evan Zlatkis, a community director, was also injured in the attack. He said he heard āa large numberā of gunshots.
āInitially, I believed it was something less lethal, but itās gone into my own skin and into my leg,ā he stated. āI sustained a gunshot wound. They bandaged me up. Iām ok.ā
