Liverpool's Star Issues Statement to Teammates, Discloses Curtis Jones
Jones has shared that Mohamed Salah expressed regret to the group of players following the fallout from his recent interview.
What Happened
The striker was dropped from a European match following voicing frustrations and claiming his rapport with Arne Slot had broken down.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, please accept my apology.’”
The head coach has previously declined to disclose on whether he received a personal apology from the 33-year-old forward.
Moving Forward
The player stated that the squad's reaction stayed normal. “Nothing about him changed, he was smiling and we all treated him normally,” Jones added.
Jones also noted that a competitor wanting to play is less of an issue. “I understand there are certain ways you can go about things,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just be on the bench, then I think that’s concerning.”
On-Field Response
Their results have remained strong in the matches since the initial controversy. The player is convinced the Salah's words were not intended to cause disruption.
“If passion has boiled over, it’s always been from a place of caring,” he finished. “We’re past that now and we’re gelling well as a team, performing and securing victories.”
