Pat Bamford Joins the Blades After Initiating Abusive Chants About Coach Wilder

Patrick Bamford is now a member of the Championship side only seven months following instigating insulting songs aimed at their manager, Chris Wilder.

The 32-year-old striker, without a club after departing from Leeds, has put pen to paper on a contract with the second-tier strugglers until January. His seven-year career with Leeds was ended amicably in August.

Among Bamford’s last memorable actions as a Leeds player involved leading insulting songs about Wilder amid the club’s promotion celebrations in April. Currently, the one-cap England international will be playing for Wilder as Sheffield United's boss aims to lift his beloved club away from the drop zone.

Previous Conflict Involving the Striker and Wilder

Both men had history prior to Leeds earned promotion to the top flight last season and United lost the playoff final by Sunderland. The manager called Bamford as “a muppet” when the roles were reversed during the 2018-19 season and the Blades won automatic promotion whereas Leeds United fell short in the promotion playoffs.

Making Amends and Looking Ahead

Everything seems has been resolved with Sheffield United, the Championship’s lowest scorers, in desperate need of improvement up front and Bamford aiming to resurrect his career.

The Wilder chant spread widely in April. An apologetic Patrick along with Leeds boss, Farke, called Wilder the next day.

Wilder said back then: “Had a conversation with Pat recently and I have no issue at all with it. I’m not sure regarding the words used from a fellow pro! But I valued and respected him calling me.

“We spent 20 minutes and similarly I spoke to Daniel as well and we had a longer discussion with him and he's a great person, a top guy. Back in my playing days we would give it and take it and that’s an integral part of football across all levels, including a Sunday morning. I have no problem at all. I am cool with the situation and I said that to Pat.”

Recent Playing Struggles

The forward made 18 appearances with Leeds United last season however the ex- Nottingham Forest, Chelsea and Middlesbrough player has struggled with fitness issues over the past few seasons.
