The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Show from the Producers of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The most recent Far Cry title that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for embracing chaos and mayhem with similar glee, all while presenting gripping, ideologically themed narratives. No wonder then that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry limited-run show pulled in two visionaries whose projects have embodied all of those qualities.
What to Expect
Inspired by Ubisoft's hit video game series, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' structure by having a different backdrop and cast of characters in subsequent series.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had magnificent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this cherished property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently approved for more episodes, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the creator.
“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family always encourages me with their constant trust and assistance.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology series. Every title is a take of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” explained Hawley. “To create a large-scale action show that can change from year to year, while always examining the core of society through this multifaceted and unpredictable perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to collaborate with Rob and bring our shared bold, visionary style to the audience.”
A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
