The World Are Invited to Become the Additional Haim Sister.
"When are you chatting with the Haim sisters?" a text arrives. "I was hoping to ask if I can join as their fourth member."
There's just one problem: The author likewise desires to be the Haims' additional sibling. What's more, we are not alone. Multiple celebrated supporters have publicly petitioned for the honor.
It's clear an irresistible appeal is happening. The siblings Este, Danielle and Alana began their path playing gigs at local delicatessens with their family. Today, they are multiple Grammy hopefuls.
Similar to the most iconic bands, they're a close unit. Their visuals often depict them striding in unison down the streets of Los Angeles. On stage, they jam with such pure exuberance you can't help but think, "I wish to be part of that, too."
"The numerous instances on tour that audience members came up to us and said, 'Watching you live, I bought a bass'," says Alana, the most junior of the trio. "It is the ultimate compliment. That's an award in itself. Our mission is accomplished if we can encourage people to make music."

Grammy Milestone
The trio are connecting from a break, where they're recovering after an extensive tour in support of their fourth album, I Quit.
They're right now reeling from the news it's been in the running for a top rock honor at the Grammy Awards – with Haim the first female band ever in contention for the award.
"I watch the lists every year, so it kind of feels like a surreal movie when your name is called," explains Alana. "I had to call my sisters to say, 'Did I hear this correctly or am I imagining things'?"
The importance of the nomination isn't lost on the band.
"We really set out to make a rock album this time, so it's a huge milestone," adds Alana. "Yet we're just grateful for the women that paved the way."
Personal Turmoil and Candor
The record emerged from a time of emotional upheaval. All three sisters were single, and the music captures that strange transitional period where you're relieved to be free, but not entirely ready to move on.
The lyrics detail departures and partings. The sisters desire love, but not the kind of love they've got. You can hear them determining in real time who they are becoming.
"I adore summary, yes," responds Danielle. "I Quit is kind of like a personal statement. You have to actively work on blocking the outside opinions and saying, 'I don't give what people think'."
Refinement of Sound
That developed toughness called for a new sound – more organic and immediate than anything the band had done before.
For Danielle, who co-produced the album, that started with the drums.
"Percussion is such a detailed thing, and I am so passionate about it," she says.
"'Journey of the drum sound' will be the subject of our book," laughs Alana. "I've said it, our albums won't commence until we find the ideal drum sound."
Experiences and Collective Camaraderie
The band's candor inspired the album's rollout, where the sisters disclosed some of their personal tales.
One man left Este over a health consideration. Alana shared a story of flying to spend New Year's Eve with someone, only to receive a friendly slap at midnight.
"Experiencing these breakups, you just feel like there's no light," explains Alana. "Therefore to be able to share those stories and hear others tell you more outrageous stories, it's therapeutic."
An Assured Future
It's not difficult sense a evolution in the band. Now, Haim are more confident of their standing in the music world.
They're festival headliners, with chart-topping albums and an global following.
But the band will consistently be their top focus.
"My sisters and I have been playing music since I was a young child," shares Alana. "It's like no other path that we were meant to do. And I'm really thankful we've made it and we're still making music."
